For Stax earspeaker users, I wonder if any of you have a demonstration disc which was recorded using a "dummy head" with a microphone stuck up it's, er, neck

I read somewhere that there are 4 of these suckers out there but I've only ever seen/heard the one I've got which shows said dummy head on the cover with a pair of cans over it.

Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream recorded a solo album called Aqua - it was recorded with a dummy head. I have played it through my Stax 4040 and it sounds just as dull as it does when played through the speakers. I really used to like Tangerine Dream, but Aqua is not one of my favourites.
However, it was recorded with a DH and it should still be available.
Mind you, I'd sooner listen to HMHB on the Stax.

This site has a lot of material on binaural recordings including reviews. I think the owner was involved in the development of electrostatic headphones (some form of Jecklin Float, maybe).
http://pkant.htmlplanet.comOn the other hand, one reason I use Stax headphones (Lambda 2020 setup) is because of the way they can project conventional recordings for loudspeakers outside the head.
