Why everything you've been told about evolution is wrong

What if Darwin's theory of natural selection is inaccurate? What if the way you live now affects the life expectancy of your descendants?

"What all this evidence shows is that we need a much more subtle and nuanced understanding of Darwinism and natural selection,"

Oh dear! How will Dawkins and Dennett cope with that?

Steve,

Did you read the whole article? Did you realise it was in there because it's twaddle? The authour's using it as an example of the sort of nonsense creationists talk, leading up to the statement that
quote:
nobody wants to provide ammunition to the proponents of creationism or "intelligent design"
precisely because they are liable to talk such twaddle, loudly, repeatedly and in public for years to come if given the slightest excuse.

That's odd. The post I was replying to has disappeared.

You sure it has, David?

Yes

Sorry I thought you couldn't see this one after you posted.

Anyone else see a pretty big difference between the article title (everything you've been told is wrong) and what the article actually says (may be slightly inaccurate)?

Epigenetics isn't exactly news. But it's hardly Lamarckism we're talking about.

jayd,

You're right, but that's pretty standard journalistic practice really. I thought the article seemed fair. I hasten to add I can't judge the accuracy of it as I'm not a biologist.

BigH, nothing to apologise for, I don't quite understand what you're saying. I replied to a post someone called s Steve had written which had disappeared by the time I'd finished. I still can't see it. It was the second one in the thread.

Creationism

Natural selection and genetic development

I still want to know what the purpose of life is?

Other than procreation and development of the species till such time as that species is irrellevant to life on the planet.

I baulk at using the word 'purpose'. I prefer the word 'function'.

42 is however,totally correct imho.
