a very good upgrade. I have done such comparison. The XPS2+CDX is a very special combination.... much better than the CDX+XPS.

CDS3 vs CDX/XPS

The crux of it is that it adds more texture to the sound of the CDX, many instuments (especially acoustic) gaining more realism. However it is not absoulutely fundamental (i.e. to quote an oft used comment, it doesn't make the CDX/XPS sound broken

I’ am just wondering if it’s worth paying around a £1000 more for the new XPS2 instead of a second hand XPS. My current system is as follows:-

CDX/NAC102/NAPSC(New version)/NAP250/HI-CAP/NACA5 cable

Dynaudio Audience 42 speakers, I have tried the Contour 1.1 could hardly tell the difference.

Also I’ am registered as a Junior Member, I have owned Naim equipment for the past six years how do I change my profile?

You will hear a bigger difference just adding the XPS to the CDX, than upgrading the XPS to XPS2, so on a VFM guage the XPS may win out.

However the XPS2 is a definate and worthwhile improvement, depends how much cash you have.
