Coloured vinyl now coloured CDs

Posted by: nap-ster on 23 April 2010

I have just bought my first (I think) coloured CD.

It is this one:

The non-playing side has the usual printing on it of the album title etc. but the playing side is completely black.

I have some "vinyl" CDs they are all black and have "grooves" on the label side.

Well, call me old fashioned, but I'm guessing that they aren't actually CDs as such then?

There are quite a few 'vinyl' CDs out there. Regular CDs with an old fashioned vinyl look. A few audiophile companies have marketed black or blue CDs with the side claim of improved sound due to the new material.

Apologies. I didn't read your post correctly. Now that I have it seems that there are a few out there already. Red Face

The black CDs have been around a long time, I think Sony used them to stop piracy on PlayStation 2 games.

I still have a stock of black Memorex CD-R Audio discs.
