Web Site Authoring software

Posted by: Sloop John B on 27 November 2008

I have previously used Hot Metal to code my pretty basic websites but as it's a 1999 program it's getting a bit long in the tooth. It's successors were xml derivatives which are far too complicated for me.

Is there any decent (Windows) software out there that you know of to build websites. It does not have to be WYSIWYG as I have a workable enough understanding of HTML.

Thanks

I use Dreamweaver. Now owned by Adobe.

It has to be Dreamweaver, preferably CS3 or CS4 if possible, only because it can be as low-down basic or as hellishly advanced a piece of software as you want it to be.

Purchasing a Lynda training DVD is also a big recommend - it helped me so much when I did my website (I wont put a link to it as it's commercial and I think it may break forum rules - can anyone confirm that this is correct, by the way?....)

Best regards

“Live” links to other forums or sites may be edited so as to require some effort to follow them.

So posting ianmacd dot org (for example) is OK.
