Screen for Mini Mac

Posted by: Occean on 09 May 2006

My girlfriend is looking for a screen to go with a Mini Mac. Budget is up to £400

Does any one have any suggestions? Also is there a specific connection needed as the Mini Mac appears to have an ADC connector?

Thanks

Eric

If it's a DVI output then there should be plenty of TFT options.

Dabs do a rather nice looking 20" widescreen Philips with an 8ms response time, 600:1 contrast and 1680 x 1050 resolution for just over £300. I find 19" or 20" a good size for general use and there are loads of decent options in the £200 and up price range. The Dell TFT's are worth a look as well.

Its a DVI connector and should have come with a DVI to VGA connector. Any DVI or VGA screen will work.

Apple have ditched the ADC connector. If you have and ADC screen you will need the convertor which is 70 quid on the apple store. Ouch.

I had to pay £100 for mine a few years ago - and it is mains powered which spoils the whole idea behind ADC - just as well Apple scrapped it.

Well i think that was the point of ADC, one tidy lead coming out the screen. However as the mac mini does not support ADC the screen needs to be powered from elsewhere.

They are beasts though, nearly as big as a mini! Its shame the power button ceases to work as well.
