I have Open Suse 10.3 on my desktop and so far I am very happy. It is friendly user, easy to work and is open source!Unlike Windows, you don t worry anymore about more memory, another better graphic card for games, etc.I think the sucess of Windows is based mainly on Microsoft marketing!Linux all the way...

Yes - it is purely marketing - but that's the way of the world.

Nuno,
Welcome to the world of Free Software and Linux, I started with Suse 8.2 and have tried many distro's over the past 5 years. I don't use Windows at all, though I do have a dual boot PC. At the moment I use the imaginatively titled PCLinuxOS and for me its the easiest to install and use but OpenSuse is not far off. The main beauty of Linux is that if you like to get your hands dirty you can cofigure 'till your hearts content and it is usable on any PC. Oh! and its FREE.
Here's a few sites that might be of interest.

Wizzkid,
Thank you for the sites.
As soon as I got time,I will search through it.
Computers like Hi Fi can be a hobby,if you do not waste lots of money in useless upgrades!
BTW,now I have a dual boot system,Win XP and Linux!I did the Suse installation by myself, with the help of Open Suse tutorial! But it was fun, however I spent most time trying to install Ubuntu through a LIVE DVD and then I give up!
I spent a hard time trying to install Ubuntu,I must say!

I have used Linux through from RedHat 5.2 over to SuSE and recently went over to Ubuntu.
To be honest Ubuntu using the install CD is just as easy as SuSE to install. Anyone wanting a taster of Linux but not wanting to install it immediately on their hard drive should really try something like knoppix.

Nuno,
I've found installing from live Cd's a pain in the arse as well, try getting Gentoo's installer to work Arrggh, I buy Linux Format and the usually have new releases on a DVD or I download the install CD's from the distro's sites.

And Banshee music player on Linux is just great. You can get recommended artists while playing your tracks, similar to those you are listening.(100% similar,80% similar, etc.)Even when you click on the recommended artists, you hear a small sample .

Seems a bit like an Amiga OS virtual live cd, which interacts with a pre-installed window manager on you OSX. Now I'm seriously impressed you must love Amiga OS to do all that.
