Aro with Troika?

With LP12/Geddon/Prefix/Aro: Is a Troika good enough? Nobody can demo this, but I am not sure if I should rebuilt my Troika if I am going to use it with an Aro...

Thanks for any advice!

My next cartridge will almost certainly be demoed in an ARO, so I'll have an opportunity to make some sort of comparison.

yeah, let us know when you do it will you. what cartridges have you short listed for audition?

enjoy

Unfortunately, my dealer only stocks two brands of cartridge: Rega and Dynavector, and I have an initial shortlist of one! Or, to be precise, two variants of the same model - the Dynavector 20XL and 20XH. If I have a HiCap by the time I need a new cartridge then I won't bother listening to the high output 20XH. Given that I love the 17D2 but dislike the 10X4 MkII I can't imagine what the 20X range will sound like!

If the 20X is unsuitable then I may have to look elsewhere - perhaps the new Linn K series if it actually exists. I can imagine such a cartridge being a worthwhile stopgap between my present K9 and a cartridge of 17D2 calibre.

This may not be for a long time, though. In fact, if my K9 wears out within the next few months I might replace it with my Rega Elys, which probably has a year's life left in it.

I have a similar "problem" on demo-ing cartridges.

I will shortly be trying a Dynavector 20X-L and a Denon 304 both in an Aro and on an Armageddon powered LP12. I will probably take my LP12/Lingo/Ekos/Denon 304 along for comparison purposes.

I've toyed with the idea of a Troika re-build but I'm diffident to commit to it. If I don't like the DV20X-L I'll probably get another Denon, and carry on saving for a Supercap.
