Emperors New Clothes

This thread is devoted to the Artists or albumns that everyone seems to rave about but in reality are simply not very good! My nomination is The White Stripes, I am sorry but I do not see what the fuss is about, bought the last albumn and it has a couple of OK tracks but they are not the saviours of the western culteral world! The album has been voted No 1 by most of the decent music mags despite being one of the worst albums I have heard in a long time.

Or Layla, with that dreadful out of tune screeching outro...aghhh.

Or Supertramp

Oh no, not Supertramp - I liked them. Reminds me of being stoned at Reading '75.

Being stoned must have helped... Wink

It was raining hard, Yes played after them, I was stoned, I was 15 years old, it was magic, and I shared my tent with a girl that I can't remember and I never knew her name. It was good. The tent came down in the night & I had breakfast with a bunch of guys that had a fire going. It was cool. I would never let my kids take off like that though!!

I´m a little younger than you. Roskilde festival in 78. Just 17 and abroad with a friend. What I did not know was that he had a severe habit I did not see him for the next days.
So I was on my own. Had a great time just the less. Chatting with people and all that.
It seems to always rain that week. And this was no exception. Standing in the crowd listening to Peter Tosh when I felt something wet on my back. Thought at first: Oh, is it starting to rain again? But wait a minute this is warm and just from behind. You guessed right, someone was pissing on my back. Turned around to actually hit the guy. But he was so far out that I couldn´t do it.
Anyway. All the less it was a really cool festival for a boy my age. I won´t encourage my kids taking off that way, like you say but I´m sure they will do it anyway.

Yeah..if my kids didn't do something I disapproved of, I would be disappointed (& a bit worried).

Eleanor McCavoy, what is all that about! Boring, boring, boring. Bought Yola, listened to it a couple of times, nice pressing but strangley monoesque sound and souless yearning pappy music! I also have reservations about Laura Cantrell but thats another story.
