Zero 7

Hello, I have recently got my hands on Zero 7's (When it Falls) album. I really like it. What other groups can be recommended in this same type of music being that I am new to this.

Charles,
welcome to the forum.
When it Falls is another great album by Zero7, and when I read your post the first group that came to mind were the Thievery Corporation. Their latest album Cosmic Game is their best so far (in my opinion) but I love their earlier one's too - The Richest Man in Babylon (2003), The Mirror Conspiracy (2000), DJ Kicks (1999) to name a few....
Zero 7's other outing from 2001 - Simple Things is also worth a listen if you are into this kind of music.....out of all my collection of chill out mellow jazz funk whatever you want to call it I usually end up going back to the Thievery Corporation though, check them out.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ali

Hi Charles,
If you like Zero 7, try ro listen to AIR, some people label Zero 7, the British AIR. Try 'Moon Safari' and 'Premier Symptomes'. Also try The Facts and The Dreams from Fragile State, Bonobo 'Animal Magic'. 'Sessions' from Kruder & Dorfmeister. Peace Orchestra, Tosca's 'Delhi 9'
Also try to get the compilation, Cafe Del Mar Vol 6, one of the best for the series.
Try this for the time being.
Thievery Corporation is great as Ali suggested.
Also try 'Sound from the Thievery Hi-Fi'.
Happy listening!

Any chill-out/downtempo music.
I find http://www.juno.co.uk very helpful, if you do a search on Zero 7 you'll get lots of compilatiom CD's which will give you plenty of ideas. You can also listen to MP3's outtakes of most songs

Hey there all good shouts, Kruder & Dorfmeister K&D sessions is particularly good.
Other stuff in this ball park to try:
- Red Snapper, try the Making Bones LP (a bit more left field trip hop, not as easy listening, but very funky)
- Groove Armada - Vertigo or Lovebox
- 4 Hero (again a little leftfield but very satisfying)
- Air, Walkie Talkie (their latest) is stunning and very very french
- The Cinematic Orchestra, (try Everyday first, then Motion if you like where its going).
To truly test your new direction can I recommend something like The Herbaliser, Very Mercenary which adds a little hip hop influence.
If this floats your boat then the whole Ninja Tune catalogue awaits which is a real treat.... !
Good luck,
Rich

I had When it falls - sold it after a few listens, was less than impressed. Had reasonable expectations following "simple things" - which I enjoyed very much. The caveat would be that it does go on a bit toward the end.
K&D sessions seconded. along with Groove Armada's Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) and the standard Tosca stuff.
