MP3 editing software.

I just downloaded my first piece of music off of the internet. I got the whole album in one large mp3 file. Now my question is what do I use to break it up into it's component tracks, before I try burning it to CD.

It's bit-rate is 192. Will this be worth burning, my experience with mp3's to date leaves much to be desired. A friend mentioned that 128 is ok for background music, but not serious listening. Go for the highest I can find; what are the forums views and recomendations?

thanks all

regards,

michael

Well done on that, re 128 bit rate, depends on the algorithm some encoders are optimised for this lowish bit rate, but as you have down loaded it I dare say you don’t know it’s origins, but you should be able to get this information from the people who supplied it, incidentally 192 bit should have been the standard of DAB radio in my country albeit in MP2 form, and as such was herald as reference standard but sadly due to whatever it has now been reduced to on average 128bit which is a shame, but I would agree with your friend that 128bit MP3 is certainly ok for casual listing , re encoders my personal favourite is the fraunhofer, good luck in future.
