The ultimate compliment for my system

Yesterday I was blaring Mikhail Rudy's recording of Janacek's Three Moravian Dances when the FedEx guy showed up. I could not here him ring the doorbell, despite my stereo room being situated immediately adjacent to the door. Fortunately my son was there and opened the door and then let me know "some delivery guy" was waiting. When I got to the door the delivery man asked in a somewhat surprised and impressed tone whether I was playing the piano! I said no, it was my stereo, and if I were as talented as Mr. Rudy that I would probably have a nicer home and would be out touring.

This is the second time that a stranger has made a comment about the fine piano playing coming from my house in the last couple of months! (My relatives have made similar comments, but I place less faith in them since they may just be humoring me, thinking my hobby somewhat ridiculous given the amounts I spend.) If these incidents do not illustrate that a good hi-fi set up sounds more like real music, then I do not know what will. And all of this from a somewhat modest system, too! (CDX / Nait 5 / FlatCap2 / Vienna Acoustics Bach)

Nice to hear from you Todd.

Simon Rattle stormed in yesterday claiming I'd kidnapped his orchestra.

I would say that the best way to check a systems quality is to listen NOT in the room where the system is but in a room next to it and listen through an open door. If it then sounds like there is real people playing on real instruments in the room where the system is you have got it! Period.

And obviosly your system does that, Todd. Congratulations!
