Why is it...

Posted by: Nigel Cavendish on 31 December 2002

...at this time of year, when people have so much time on their hands (like me) that we seem to get a load of new members with strange names asking such apparently sensible but on examination stupid or potentially contentious questions?

Happy New year

...I'll take a stab at it roll eyes

"...we seem to get a load of new members..."

Easy peasy. Naim had good holiday sales.

"...with strange names..."

New owners discover the Forum and, when registering, emulate those that are here.

"...asking such apparently sensible but on examination stupid or potentially contentious questions?"

I would guess that the questions are newbie questions which, when viewed through the eyes of Forum Veterans, can read as contentious. Remember, your focus determines your reality.

Happy New Year!

No.

Do you think I am accusing you of something? If so why do you think that?

Nigel?

sorry Enigma,

perhaps due to your enigmatic grammar* it's a little unclear what your question was. I'm wondering whether it's hidden in this gem:

"It's people like you what cause unrest!"

So: does 'what' go with 'cause' or with 'unrest'? (Or is it all alone out in the woods?)

Just trying to come with a helpful subquestion...

right, that's what they always say. (But I guess you were "told to say that")

You're right Nigel's quite. I blame you.

Mr. Yoda,

your explanazio is weirder than the problem.

You seem to be suffering some strange stress syndrome and I'm advising you to cease posting a.s.a.p. so as to avoid becoming a Universal Butt without Rebuttal (not having Offical Posting Privileges).

I don't mean Butt in a Daisy Chain way (though you never know). I mean Butt of Ridicule.

I am one of those new guys asking the so called stupid questions; I am new to the Naim brand and the Naim way of thinking but not new to hi-fi.
So that is why people like me may find it hard to understand things like, only using naca5 cable.
So any help in achieving the best results from what we have is most helpful.
(Sorry if I have wasted your time again)

No, you are not one of those asking stupid questions.

it is always handy, however, to check the search box in the right hand lower corner of the Hifi Corner first when you want to ask a question.

You can find the answers to a lot of questions by just searching in the archives. Also you can ask smarter (more to the point) questions when you've first checked the archives.

That's what I do / did

Count, your posting at the top of this thread was not some reference to our Enigma being of the equine variety?

His posts arn't long enough, although I feel we have met him before.

Oh, one more thing...

snigger.
