Not at all. Just a mild dig at those who who went south on my favorites thread before Spock created this thread to share pet hates and other seasonal negativity. Smile

Anything by the manic st preachers - their mock downtrodden whingeing really dicks me off...

"if you tolerate this, then your children will be next, will be next, will be next, will be neeeeexxxt..."

Vienna - ultravox.
Meatloaf - bat out of hell ( all of it )
Anything queen have done.
Most of this so called modern pop music i hate with an absolute passion.
Also i wished i could fly by orville.
Anything that chris de burgh has ever done!
Most popular christmas songs including band aid take2!
That song that elton john did for princess diana, i bet that made her turn in her grave with absolute vengence.

Amazing no-one's proposed anything from the 70s yet. From this decade of good taste, I nominate

1. Muskrat Love, Captain and Tennille
2. Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft, the Carpenters (official anthem of World Contact Day)

Baaaarrrrrrf

Making your mind up - bucks fizz, and while im at it- anything the nolan sisters have ever done.
That eigthties birdy song now that could turn me into a psycotic explosion of filling my ear drums to the absolute brim with otex.

Lemmy (bass)
Micky Moody (guitar)
Cozy Powell (drums)
Bob Young (vocals)
The Nolan Sisters (vocals)

The entire "musical" output of Rolf Harris must be worthy of consideration in this context, as must the dreadful "entertainers" of 1970's TV-Doonican, for example.

Just a personal thing - but I happen to quite like the Manics - good live when I saw them. As I say it's all a personal thing.

But Rolfie wrote the stunning Sun-A-Rise, as immortalised on Love It To Death by The Alice Cooper Group - he also gave us Tie Me Kangeroo Down, Sport and I was Bluer than Blue, which were not immortalised by Alice.

But Val gave us Delaney's Donkey and Paddy McGinnty's Goat, and he used to rock on TV.

I'm stunned (have you never heard Phil Collins, now his entire output is Dire: not including when he was a stand-in drummer for Peter Gabriel's backing group, of course).

Rotf,

I agree - phil collins tracks are absolutely dispicaple.

We have to add that Dire Straits song (probably all of them actually) about washing machines & colour TV's, and anything Sting has ever touched, but I do take exception Andrew to listing Rolf Harris & Val Doonican here. You are a new member and therefore can be forgiven Smile . But Rolf and Val are Gods.

Another brick in the wall by Pink Floyd. Winker

Will I be banned now?

"I'm not in love"

I used to serve behind a bar and it was on the most played song on the juke box. By closing time I was ready to jump over the counter and throw the juke box out the window.

I think I have posted on this subject before, but my nomination is still 'All I want to do is make love to you' by Heart. Absolute crap masquerading as meaningful. I think novelty songs should not really count as they say more about the people that buy them than those who record them! Another nominee would be the various 'Band aid' offshoots - awful!
Posted on: 16 December 2005 by stevebob1230
I would nominate Unbreak my heart by Toni Braxton, godawful dirge that one ! Oh and let's not forget Robbie Williams Tripping ( wish he would )
Posted on: 16 December 2005 by Nime
(Mental note) Add Toni Braxton to Christmas shopping list. "I'm not in love" is a classic too. Big Grin

You can stick your Rolf and Val where the sun doesn't shine. I suffered through their TV shows.
Could I sue for delayed post traumatic stress? Cool

Fisbey,

Each to their own - for each Manic's hater (me), there are several Manic's fans...

By the way, some trivia for Stephen/Merto, I believe it was "shaddap you face" by Joe Dolce that knocked Ultravox's Vienna of it's top spot of over 10 weeks? Someone liked them!

Just found this link:

http://www.yearsofgold.org.uk/1981WEEK8FEB21.htm

Actually, there are some others in there, Spock's favourite, In the air tonight...

and some classics, That's Entertainment, Sgt Rock, Once in a lifetime... Those were the days!
