How can you be beastly to Sir Elton on his wedding day??
Posted on: 21 December 2005 by Rasher
I had no idea. I've just looked it up on the news pages and sure enough, there it is. Good for him.
I don't dislike him as a person - I've never met him, but his music I can live without. Smile

I agree, but won't the aussies on the forum object to the author of their National Love Song (Tie me Kangaroo down sport) being selected for this dishonour Big Grin

Yes, that version was very much for the USA pop scene. BUT his mellow version is much more listenable...

And what about Jake The Peg (with the extra leg) - another Rolf classic
Posted on: 21 December 2005 by Spock
diddle um diddle um

Wot about Rolf's stairway to heaven. Maybe this a classic and Led Zep's version is twaddle.

Re Val and Rolf.
Ohmygod!! I am so sorry to have blasphemed and to add to my sins, risk upsetting our antipodean fellow-music lovers.
Could I redeem myself by requesting recommendations for boxed sets of their compositions to re-educate my ghastly taste in music? The weekend and bank holidays can be devoted to a roaring fire with Rolf and Val roaring on the stereo.
I only hope my system is worthy of them.
No Christmas cheer for me.
I am a man on a mission to achieve pure enlightenment.
Season's Greetings, Andy.

At the risk of adding further insult to our Aussie friends, I Should be so Lucky by Kylie Minogue shouldn't be overlooked.

I've cited several artists in this thread, but I take my hat off to you RoyleBlue. "On The Ball City" is truly the most awful dirge ever written (did somebody actually write it) or sung,

Strewth, mate!

First someone insults the Poet Laureate, then they have a go at the Singing Budgie. Next you'll be having a go at Mr Cod Rock, Michael Hutchence, partner of that grose chick Paula Yates (whose These Boots are made for Walking is an unlamented classic) and singer of such fine ditties as Suicide Blonde, What you need and New Sensation. Could it be that you Northern Hemisphere blokes are jealous at the unending stream of talent we send to your shores?

That's right, and if you don't watch it, the Singing Budgie has a sister named Danii, and we'll send her over too.
