Attention Fredrik Fiske

Posted by: Steveandkate on 07 July 2006

As a big time expert, in my ignorant eyes, can I ask you for some help - I have a friend with a large-ish record collection he needs to dispose of, and you may be able to help me (or rather, him) work out which are good or worth holding on to.
If you feel you may be able to help, could I please ask you to email me on stevethestinkyone(at)hotmail(dot)com.
The collection is roughly 700 records, and I believe a lot is Bach - the collector who put it together was a specialist in Bach, I am told.
So, if you feel that you might be able to help, or be interested, please email me and I will send you the list - if not, then please let me know - I do need some help as I know nothing about this sort of music, and the owner is keen to sell it, or at least get it insured !
Many thanks, and I hope you don't mind me asking you..!
Steve
PS Anyone else who reads this post who feels they might be able to help or whatever, please feel free to reply as well !

Dear Steve,

I think of myself as an enthusiast and a student of the subject. I suspect experts! You have an email!

Experts. I agree. I heard someone describe themselves as an 'expert' to an extremely tall sgt. major who bent down to the expert to look him in the face and growled 'Ex is an unknown quantity and spurt is a drip under pressure and you are both until you prove otherwise'.

I always liked the definition of an expert as 'someone who has made all the mistakes in a given field of endeavour' Smile

an expert is someone who has 5% more knowledge than a novice....

andyc - Mr Fiske has way more than 5% more knowledge than me on this, and I suspect many other fields as well, thus making him, to me, an expert.
He also seems like a thouroughly nice chap.
eric - on your definition of an expert, maybe a novice is not so good either - I certainly do have a vice or two...
Happy Monday all !
Steve
