Room acoustics

I have had a look at the "metal on wrist" thread and people have raised the issue of other speaker/microphones (such as telephones) in the room moving in sympathy with the music and absorbing sound pressure at certain frequencies, hence distorting the music.

Also items such as soft furnishings of varying density can have both positive and negative effects.

I propose on this basis that the human ear, which vibrates in sympathy to the sound waves ruins the room acoustics and as such the only way to listen to your hifi is by positioning yourself in a different room far enough away from your listening room that you cannot hear the music. If you cannot hear it, you can rest assured that your ears are not moving in sympathy with the speakers, and you can have peice of mind that yopur stereo is sounding its best.

I will try this out tonight and post my finding tommorow.

To address room acoustics, would it not be better to remove the Hi-fi from the room rather than yourself.

I propose that a more effective solution is for the system to be set-up at a remote/offsite listening room (eg Naims demo room at the factory) which we could all share and save us all a lot of cash

Bosh - also bored with work but cant go home quite yet

I am pleased to see cynicism and sarcasm are still alive and well.
I like the idea of the remote listening room, but a superior ari conditioning system will have to be installed (separate mains spur though, careful!) otherwise the smell of all those people will certainly be unsympathetic to our noses.

And a coffee machine on a Fraim (no resonance).
