The best Naim upgrade - no argument!

...happens to be an Aro.

Finally saved up enough to pick up an Aro in place of an Ittok on my LP12.

WOW!

All I can say is that everything just falls into place and music starts 'flowing'. The Aro removes layers and layers of 'dirt' that have veiled the music up to now.

It's just so bloody tuneful! Bass lines are tight and articulate while everything else is just crisp and 'snappy'. I always had the impression that the Aro made music sound lean -- boy was I wrong! Everything is fuller and with lots more 'soul'.

The 'attack' is just phenomenal. The highs are sweet and crisp -- finally my ribbons have a source that can make them truly sing.

I have to say that this is the best Naim component I have ever owned.

Anyone out there with an LP12 and no Aro is missing out big time. It took me a year to save the dough -- but boy is it worth it!

Really enjoying the music now.

Afzal.

I am having an Aro fitted to my Garrard 401 this week by Loricraft, so fingers crossed, I will be saying something similar.

Hi Afzal

Why did you discount the Ekos?

Christopher,

Cartridge is Benz-Micro Ace. Has a nice full body to it but will still 'attack' when provoked.

Mike

To be honest, have not heard the Ekos exensively apart from a dem by a Linn dealer with active keltiks. Was not impressed as I thought it sounded like a refined Ittok. Have heard the Aro sounding lovely in so many permutations to ignore what was a no brainer to me. I am aware of the sizeable Ekos following but those couple of encounters did not do it for me.

Have to say that the Aro seems to be sounding better today than it did over the weekend! I know that it does not need to run in but perhaps my Mana is settling down after being repositioned.

It's pretty sad to admit this but the saxaphone on Wham's Careless Whisper literally blew me away (no pun whatsoever intended) last night. The maggies are sounding absolutely lovely and I'm getting itchy again thinking about how a prefix would outperform my stageline!

keeping the 80's pop records playing,
Afzal.
