electronica.

well a fair time has moved on since our last outing into this vast vast areana.
I have purchased some frankly great peaices of music that I wish to share with you all.
For those that think Electronica in its many froms is pap, should perhaps move on now. For the rest of us, here is what I have purchased in the recent past.
Ralph Mayerz, and the jack herren band, A special album I purchased this today and its really got straight in there and said 'you done well gary'. A mix of fila brazillia beats, with a kind of nieve over tone. I think its really good. Its been compared to roksoyopp, which frankly I thought sounded totally different.
Super Numeri, Great averies serious chill down. It sometimes seems a little lost, and not one I have played too often. coul dbe worth checking if you like minamalist music.
Mas, Confusion Frankly I havn't decided what the groups name is or the album name, its all so unclear! However the cover is supurb in a lemon jelly style, just a mass of road sins in a flash animation kind of way. The music is very good, definatly along a 'formulatic' line but I like it none the less. Its sort of housey, but thats not a toatlly fair description as in general I don't listen to house. It was found int he elctronica section, i.e. no one can classify it.
For sure though, its not complicated, won't blow your mind. But turn the volume up and it induces stupid grin mode.
Lucky Pierre, Hypnogogia On clear vinyl this one, although the sound seems just fine. Here is a mix of classical hits electronica. very laid back and I believe well worth the purchase for a rainy afternoons listening. Nothing on here is going to scare you out of you reviere, and chilled back beats wil insure a relaxed time. A really nice album.
Bonodo, Dial M for monkey Hasn't in the end struck me down this album. Certainly not as good as Animal Magic, although in fairness does carry the bonobo trait. The vinyl is a bit of a pain as they chose to put on two vinyl what could have nicly fitted on one, each siude is like 10 minutes.
Deadly avenger, Deep Red This is a supurb, supurb peice of cinmatic lovelyness! ONe of the few plates that continualy hits the linn. I love this album. Big phat sounds combined with a really nice string section, for the sake of 16 quid I suggest anyone into electronice purchase this album.
ed rush and Optical, wormhole OK this is not new, and is very dark indeed, but for f**k off drum and bass look no further, this stuff is repetative and adictive, you have been warned.
Deserving a section of its own is the Ninja Label. Now those that log in reguraly will know how I have beat on about this label, but to my ears at least they heavn't gone wrong.
Cinamatic Orchestra, man with the movie camera Boardering on jazz, this stuff manages to be bang up to date and really keeps you listening. Try it.
For an introduction to Ninja:
Ninja cuts, Flexistentialism This album is a total ripper, and I think anyone who likes electronic, or breaks and beats specifically will find plenty here to keep them amused, a triple vinyl set and every tune really good, get up and go stuff. Well recorded as well.
Ninja Cuts, Funkungfusion This one has a bit of scrathing on it, and is a little more wild than the one above, worth checking out though.
Bear in mind that on ninja you have" bonobo, Cinamatic Orchestra, Herbaliser, and Funki Porchini, and in my opinion if you find an album by any of these, you won't have done bad.
I feel tired after this lot now, but have to tell you I have an appetite for all things electronica from techno to drum and bass to down beat to breaks and beats.
i really want to know what you have been listening to recently.
Cheers
