Ron Sexsmith

After a long, inexplicable delay, I finally broke down and bought a Ron Sexsmith album. I decided to start with Blue Boy, as it was his most recent.
I had heard great things about this Canadian artist, and I had heard the occasional track on the radio. With all of this hype, I had high hopes, and I was very happily not disappointed!* This guy has an amazing songwriting ability, and his performances are intimate, with a natural humility.
If you've not had a chance to hear his stuff, then give it a shot.

*P.S. On the topic of disappointing auditions, I also got a copy of Fun Trick Noisemaker from The Apples In Stereo. Their songs are actually very good, but they are badly marred by the "lo fi" esthetic. I wish that the guilty parties would discard this misdirected ideal.
