Speaker cable

Posted by: Topof on 29 January 2003

Hi folks,
I'm looking to buy some speaker cable for my CD5, Nait5 sistem and I'd appreciate some help.
I know Naim recommend NACA5 and other people use Chord but that's too expensive at the moment. Can anyone recommend cheaper speaker cable (if I could get it at RicherSounds so much the better).
If it could be thinner than say CableTalk Talk 3.1 and white that'd be great - was looking at QED original.

Thanks

QED original (79 strand) works fine for me with a Nait3 into Monitor Audio R352s. A5 by contrast was less inspiring than a very uninspiring thing. I lived with it for 3 weeks and went back to QED

Hi Top of,

look mate the nac A5 is the beast for the job & in my opinion quite fairly priced...

I would as others have suggested wait until funds permit...

However in the short term try using standard electricity cable (2.5 twin & earth) Its actually pretty good & will only set you back about 50p a meter, available from your friendly DIY store or for a better price try an electrical wholesaler....

Hope this helps....Cheers Wink

I just recently got into Naim at Christmas, i purchased a Nait3, and Naim CD5. I knew nothing about Naim and how you were supposed to get the correct speaker cable so i just bought some cabletalk 3 at £5 a metre. After getting home and setting it up it sounded great, and begining to get into Naim i found this forum, and the recommendations about NACA5. I was on a budget and had already spent to much, but decided the NACA5 was obviously the best for the job and whent out and got some, having to ditch my day old cabletalk3, well anyway i dont regret that because the NACA5 is superb(although a pig to install), i dont know what difference it would make if you were to buy £50 per metre cable, but at the £6 or so i was charged i wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Naim cable.
