dvd and nait blues..

Does anyone know of a dvd player with a huge output from it's stereo phono outs please?

The problem at present is that, playing my current toshiba through the Nait 5, i have to turn the volume pot past 1pm (!) to get acceptable volume levels and this increases the speaker hiss to intolerable levels. It's awful and i can't watch the film.

Thanks for any help. Paul.

Hey mongo,

As an experiment, have you tried connecting your dvd player to one of the other inputs on the Nait 5? I only ask as the Nait 5 has a programmable volume control system that allows you to match the output levels of each source. Have the volume set low before trying this (!)

If you're having to whack the volume up past one o'clock with your dvd player, maybe the output levels for your amp have been changed in the past.

In case you haven't got a copy, it tells you how to change the output levels on the last but one page of the manual.

Hi Chief. Of course! how retarded of me.

The levels are all as they should be, but i can increase the gain for the dvd player. That should do the job.

Many thanks for the elementary lesson; if all else fails, read the instructions.

Top fellow.

The following was abstracted form the link to the manual

"To program the volume control for each input
First set the volume control to a comfortable listening level with the loudest source (probably CD)
Enter program mode by pressing and holding the prog key until the amplifier volume control indicator flashes.
Select the input to be adjusted using the handset and
Use the vol up and down keys to set the volume to a comfortable listening level.
The amplifier volume control will not rotate during this operation.
Select a further input to adjust.
To exit program mode press and hold the prog key until the volume control indicator stops flashing, or operate any
control on the amplifier.

To access automatic source switching enter program mode as described above.
Use the handset mon key to toggle automatic switching on and off.
The mon button on the amplifier will illuminate when source switching is automated.
Exit the program mode as above."

Seems pretty straightforeward to me - assuming your Nait responds as implied by the text! Does your manual have the same text?

Cheers
