naim business review

Posted by: Paul Stephenson on 03 December 2008

I just pulled a post which had a less than helpful tone about our current trading postion.
It is true that recentley we have made 7 people redundant, we regret this but in light of future planning watching our costs for next year is vital as is for any company right now. I do not wish to go into who and why has left, this a private affair. We thank those of you who have our welfare at heart, and as usual all upgrades are always welcome!

Appologies Paul - i thought the original poster was referring to Linn and its changes. Difficult times but hope all goes well for Naim.

Having been on the receiving end of such events before, you and your former people have my sympathies. It can be just as traumatic to be delivering that message as getting it. Especially in a small, tight-knit business.

I will step up my efforts to buy a SNait or XS!

Sad news Paul, but part of company life.
I have a second 555PS on my system upgrade list when funds allow.
Also the rumored new Naim LS, if it's true, seems likely to result a major bout of upgraditus!

Naim is the one & only share I'd buy at the moment. Smile

I've always been frustrated that Naim's not a listed company. Confused

...what Naim LS? Confused

Did I just go from being the recipient of a rumour to a rumour monger? Eek Big Grin

I'm sure I speak for most of us here in wishing you all the best Paul. Perhaps any of us looking to put our hands in our pockets in the near future will be prompted to act on this impulse.

Oh I agree! I'd have some.

But... look at it this way. We're a bad enough disruptive influence on the firm as it is. Imagine us lot at a shareholders meeting... Eek

On reflection, I think we should be glad that naim's shares are in the good hands of paul, roy and a few other key staff. And that it stay that way.

A very good point Jon!

How about if I promise never to attend a shareholders meeting Paul? Winker Big Grin

Times are tough everywhere, and it is important to set your organisation to endure what could be a couple of years of economic meltdown.( We are in the midst of this ourselves, and I find out if I still have job later today.)
It's not nice but it's reality and it has to be done by many business'.
Paul and Co - Take care of the company, I still want an HDX ( assuming I won't be living in the carboard box myself )
Good Luck

You know we did consider this but you just made it crystal clear why not Winkercan you imagine the agm and hours spent discussing the return of the olive range and Cartridge loading, would be quite funny actually.
Good luck today Barrie.

Paul, surely you mean the production at last of the electrostatic, and the turntable of course? Smile

Knowing the type of clientele I would think Naim is the best placed to weather the economic turmoil in the coming years. In fact, I purchased 3 pieces of equipment in the last 2 months alone, two from Naim, (Powerline and NAPSC) nothing major.

I am not investment banker type, my investment banker type friends would not touch a Naim, they need some thing more flashy, line Jadis, Levinson, Goldmund and the like. bet they wont be buying many of those in the near future.

Naim customers are more stable, me thinks.

A pigeon can always leave a deposit on a CD555 > NAC 552 > NAP 500 based system but can an investment banker still do the same?

Possibly, a chrome 500 series would do? Roll Eyes

Hi Mr. Stephenson,

Talented people are so hard to let go like this, I'm sharing the feelings about the hard decision.

I'm wondering how many people are working at Naim HQ? I'll be satisfied of an approximate number if you consider this as a private info.

Bye.

Pickets demanding equal rights for CD & vinyl enthusiasts?
CA extremists (you know who you are!) threatening terrible deeds,
unless the Naim DAC is made?

Whilst it is very sad indeed that anyone has had to leave, the important thing is that management have acted decisively now, as at times like these with the prevailing economic climate as it is. To do nothing could be far worse.

The best thing we can all do is to get out there and tell our friends just how good music is for us and could be for them!

Kindest regards,

Peter

P.S. Suggesting a possible product or two, now and then probably isn't a bad idea either so long as it helps Smile

I wouldn't think so.

There's a load of business stuff that we just get on with - like most businesses.
