Paging Adam (prize idea)
Posted by: erik scothron on 25 April 2006
Dear Adam,
Some weeks ago I was sniffing around the rubber room here looking for an interesting thread and I could not find any. Ditto that for the other rooms too. I was so bored I wondered if perhaps I would prefer to watch paint dry or even a football match but the next day there were a couple of very interesting threads and a couple of funny ones too.
My suggestion is that you(Naim)award a prize each month (a CD perhaps) to the member who posts the most interesting or humourous thread. The cost would be negligable (what is 12 CDs a year?)and may result in folks here competing for glory and thus making the forum more interesting. A special prize for 'post of the year' could also be awarded, the prize can be a 555 and an all expenses paid trip to Berlin to meet our Fritz. What say you?
Lest anyone think I'm motivated by self interest here I ask that my posts not be considered.
Regards,
Erik

While we're on the subject (vaguely, anyway). I was thinking the other day (prompted by a good thread getting bumped back to the front of the music room), whether there could be a sticky at the top of the room carrying links to threads worth reading (many, if not most, of the ones I would have in mind not written by me) so that newcomers could be pointed towards them.
regards, Tam

Hmm no response yet. Maybe my suggestion is being considered at Board level even as I type?

He's probably waiting for this thread to go away.

WHY - I spend enough time at work going thru today's active topics as it is without the number of posts skyrocketing by hopefuls trying to grease a free cd

I think that this is an excellent idea but wonder if I could retain the will to live if, in addition to reading the entire contents of the forum, I also had to grade it.
Just concerned for my sanity - which may be selfish.

No need for grading or anguished decisions Adam. Just keep a note of anything that really catches your eye (say 1 or 2 a week)then choose between them at the end of the month on a whim if you must. Can you be bought though?
