New Nordost Power Cords
Posted by: Audio Visionary on 12 November 2003
We had the chance to listen to the 3 new Nordost power cords on Roksan and Naim systems in our store today thanks to John Wiebe, Canadian distributor of Nordost cables. We compared stock AC cords supplied with the 202, 200 and CD5, Eichmann power cords and then the new Nordost cables added one at a time. In terms of speed, bass weight, openness and 3D soundstaging, the power cords were a stunning addition to the things that Naim does fantastically well already. The Eichmann was really quite good - up to now my favorite cord in the price area. But the "entry Nordost was better and just a bit more money. Even the new Roksan gear was improved quite nicely by the entry
level power cord - the mid and top cords were even better but the extra cost is a low for such modest priced electronics.
I urge readers to borrow a couple of cords from their local dealer only if they afford the upgrade. (And it is an upgrade - not just different). I suggest they will keep them if they can afford them. We were using the Special 25 from Dynaudio and NACA 5. Next time we'll give the Valhallas a go at the same time.
