Red Priest - The Four Seasons

I was listening to Radio 3 the other night, mostly as back-ground music (tsk tsk) whilst reading. Lots of nice music on, but the one thing that really made me sit up and listen was "Spring" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Heard it a hundred and one times before, but this was different.

For a start the main line was played by a recorder. It also sounded like the whole group was on speed it was being played at such a pace, so much so that it sounded that it might fall apart at any point!

It was absolutely fantastic though. As a very familiar piece of music it was great to hear it played in a fresh and different way. And oh my god. The guy on the recorder is just out of this world. Incredible.

The group is called Red Priest, and if you've not heard their stuff, do check them out, and if you have, I'd love to hear of any CD recommedations you may have.

Cheers

Gratuitous indeed! The chirping of the birds as played on a recorder! I found in very interesting to listen too, and will be trying out the CD when it is released. IIRC it's got Corelli's Christmas concerto on too.

Cheers
