Nait XS - AV Bypass Hum

Posted by: Bod2020 on 10 January 2010

Hi All,

After years of contemplation and saving I've finally got my hands on a amp to accompany my CD5X, the Nait XS.

For the meantime I have had to incorporate it into my 5.1 system (Arcam AVR300). I have done this via the AV Bypass switch and phono (RCA) connections from the AVR pre-outs.

This works fine the only problem I seem to be having is a very audible hum. I only receive this hum from my 'AV' input on the XS, all my other inputs which are in use are perfectly clear.

The Hum is present whether the AVR300 is switched on or not. There is also a Ground Lift switch on the AVR which I have toggled on and off, appears to make no difference. From my brief reading on this it sounds like it could be a ground loop, can anybody confirm this, or offer any possible solutions.

Thanks in advance.

Bod, is the hum there if you disconnect all the other sources on the Arcam? I would guess it's being caused by something connected to your Arcam. TVs, cable feeds etc can all cause this problem. Isolators help here. Lots of threads on this on this forum and elsewhere on the www. Speak with your dealer.
