DVD5 with Meridian Faroudja DVP1080 scaler

I have the opportunity to play with the above scaler which normally partner the latest JVC HD10 1080 projector. Currently I have a JVC HX-1 projector.

The DVP1080 is connected to the DVD5 through the DVI port. The DVP1080 manual says that it is able to process video input source 480i/480p, 576i/576p, etc. Since DVI output from DVD5 is 480p, I thought this would work.

The output picture is normal but somewhat smaller than the full 16:9 screen and on the extreme right border of the screen which normally will be filled, there is an annoying vertical band of horizontal grey bars running across it. The DVD5 setup menu appeared to have been enlarged such that the wordings on the menu are partially blocked.

Does anyone has any experience with this? and what could be the reason for it.

Are you setting the scaler to the right mode?

Have you got it set to "pixel for pixel" by accident?

I have read through the entire manual and there is nothing in there that indicates a "pixel for pixel" mode. The only text that mentioned about this horizontal bars is about image adjustment setting where it warn of adjustment too much to the side as some of the image will be blocked and horizontal bars will appear on the other side. I am unable to move the image to the right.
