Help needing in naming a tune

Posted by: Andrew Randle on 23 June 2002

Hi all I need your help here. The very first time I heard an LP12 it was on the shop floor at the Sound Organisation (York). Simon placed on an awesome piece of music on the LP12 and I'm trying to find who it is. Here's the details.

1) Style is blues-rock
2) This took place around 1990 (maybe 1991), so it can't be a tune that was later than then
3a) The lyrics tend to focus on the phrase "I want another day on the moon" or something like that
3b) The lead vocalist is male
4) The theme is something to do with escapism... escaping the futility of life on Earth and having a fun time on the moon
5) The song starts off with a fantastic bass solo, kind of a rolling sound (can't remember whether its electric or double bass)
6) A piano features strongly (maybe similar-ish in sound and style to the piano on Cornflake Girl)
7) The male vocalist is featured central on the soundstage, and I remember there's backing singers (probably to the left and to the right)
8) It isn't The Waterboys

I hope this is enough to go on confused

Have you asked Hamish or David? They are both very knowledgable on the music they play in the shop, even though it was a few years ago!

Thanks Paul, I'm not sure if that's the one as I haven't found any sound samples on the web. Anyway I will persevere, although the artist looks to be deleted frown .

I've got the Rockin' Jimmy album (it's a stormer BTW). If I get a mo I'll give you a track list / cat no.

I'd transcribe some lyrics but the LP12 is dead at present frown

From memory though your description of the theme doesn't fit the songs on the album.
