Barbra Steisand

Chaps

Do yourself a favour and buy "The Essential Barbra Streisand". It is a 2 CD pack and the quality of the music alone is superb. Also her voice is really something.

A really great CD.

C'mon, Nick, show some respect to people who like to live their emotions to the fullest...

There's nothing wrong with that. wink

I've never trusted Streisand since she attempted to take over the world in South Park - She was however more far convincing as a Godzilla like cartoon demon than she ever has been as a vocalist.

I'm not so sure about Dr Como. Did he ever do a duet (or whatchamacallit) with les BeeGees? (Sp?) However, is Shirley Bassey still among the living? Doth Roseanne sing?

Is this just some complicated way of telling us you are gay Mick?

Matthew

PS Tony: Mecha-Striesand was a masterpiece although I prefered the X Files-ish one about a genetically modified dope addicted talking towel developed by the military and some evil corporation.

Mick--

If the "Essential Streisand" contains anything but a rendition of Cage's 4'33" of silence I think you were ripped off.

Not that there's anything wrong with that

Remember Mick's trip to the Greek islands, Matthew? May have pushed the button.

the wluckiest people

Keep in mind Nick, people who need people are the wluckiest people (in the world).

Just go to your local YMCA and check it out.

May I presume that Miss Streisand is some sort of gay icon.

Mick,

I think you may with impunity.

The tricky part is she's not the only one...

hi nigel,

as far as i can tell (married, one son, wife pregnant) some musicians do receive bigger praise in the homosexual community than in the average population. barbra streisand indeed has the reputation to be wildly loved by the gay/lesbian community. (anything to do with yentl?) there are several bands in germany who do very well with a mainly gay audience. they do not necessarily have to be gay themselves, although it helps.

my german colleagues might want to help me out: marianne rosenberg (former dull singer of german "schlager") or rosenstolz are musicians that have their fan base in the gay/lesbian community. anyone heard of them outside our strange country?

Mick,

It was recently suggested to me that every reasonably famous person is actually a gay icon, but to answer your question:

If you keep this abuse up.....I may start fancying you. Now that would ruin your reputation.

Chaps

I took Mrs Mick up to London yesterday to see a show (My Fair Lady) and then for a meal/shopping afterwards.

The show was very good and we decided to head for Soho for some drinks and food.

The place was filled up with thousands of the Gay community, in fact it was heaving. It must have taken us about 30 minutes to walk from the restaurant (Quo Vadis)down to Picaddily Circus via Old Compton Street. It was that busy.

The pubs must have been doing a roaring trade as everyone had a bottle of beer in the hand.

It was all very good natured and we stopped for a drink because of the sticky heat and had a chat with a few of them in a pub at the bottom of Old Compton Street.

I now accept that my pulling power is dead as no one propositioned me......old age is a terrible thing.

We got home rather late this morning and I confess to be feeling rather fragile.

Mick...

You should've told your friends on the Naim Forum who you really were.

A lot that has passed would have made more sense..

You Go, Sister wink

out cruisin'

Mick,

every single thing you tell us about Mrs Mick makes me marvel at your good fortune.

So you throw yourself among the heaving masses of your friends, hoping for some romance, and she accompanies you without a word of reproof? One fair lady indeed. You are so lucky.

Mick,

Striesand, an interest in musicals, hanging out in Old Compton St. with your gym hardend body -- to complete your image you might want to get a pair of Carhart trousers, Diesel trainers and some Channel Labs sunglasses that all your mates insist are incredibly cool even though you secretly believe that make everyone look like Pattie Boulaye. Reading Heat magazine would be a good move and if possible try and get a jot a job as an assistant producer on Big Brother.
