HDX memory problem

Posted by: BLee on 18 August 2010

Hello...I have a qnap nas in use with my hdx. Today the hdx browse shows the music contained in the Music file on the qnap which I use as a music store, but does not show my downloaded music, also on the qnap.

I tried to access music repositories from the web page and the dtc, but the page simply said "loading" and then returned to the home screen (the dtc went to "not responding"

I am now getting a message on the touch panel of the hdx unit itself saying that it is very low on system memory and that I should convert some storage to memory. The message is not in the normal graphics - looks almost like old fashioned courier font.

I have pressed ok, but nothing seems to happen...the message keeps reappearing and I cannot access anything under system setup from the brower (simply goes to 'loading' and then back to home screen).

I have turned off and on, but to no avail.

Any help, guidance etc more than appreciated, thanks.

SPACEMAN!!!!!!!!

Thanks...but unfortunately I am unfamiliar with "spaceman"...assume it's some sort of utility to help with my problem?

It's now getting worse as the touch panel has a permanent white block on it in which it says:

"Program memory is very low. You must select one task to close, or increase the amount of program memory if available." At the bottom of the white block it says "Convert some Storage memory to Program memory - you can use the control panel to adjust the memory later"

There's an 'OK' button in the top right hand corner, which I have pressed, but the message simply flashes back again.

Apart from 'spaceman' (which I don't seem to have access to) is there anything else you can suggest please?

thanks

Bill

"Spaceman" is not a utility but a known procedure to free up more disk space. It will give you more space, man.

1. Turn off tv
2. Place two pieces of bread in toaster, set to level 4 darkness.
3. Butter toast.
4. Open a can of Coke and guzzle it.
5. Now turn off the HDX and back on while standing on one foot.

Problem solved.

Sorry I don't know the real answer as I don't own an HDX but I had to keep in the spirit of pcstockton's Bill Lee reference. I hope someone answer's your question soon. If not, I'm sure you could contact your dealer or possibly the reference manual?

Sounds like XP has gone tits up. If you email support@naimnet.com you'll find Phil et alia very helpful. Someone might even be able to remote into your HDX to see what the problem is.

Thanks for asking Klout10, and apologies for pushing this to the top of the page, but I just wanted to say thanks for how quickly and efficiently Phil did indeed sort the problem out remotely after I emailed him. Apart from the technical stuff, his ability to accommodate my less than regular working hours was greatly appreciated.

Somehow, I doubt that level of support is available from many organisations. As you said Nero, very, very helpful....thanks!

Bill - not the Spaceman, the other one...

There are non-working hours too?

When did that happen?
