Capacitor Upgrades

After seeing an advert for Wilmslow Audio Supersound Capacitors I was left wondering whether replacing the ordinary electrolytic capacitors in my aging Monitor Audio speakers would bring any benefit.

Two new capacitors for the tweeter section of the crossover cost me less than a tenner but so far I can say they seem worth every penny. The word which springs to mind is clarity - more of it. Vocals are clearer and the treble is less spalshy, always a problem with the old MA speakers. I suspect they are still running in so I will report back in a few days on any long term benefits.

In their catalogue Wilmslow suggest that old capacitors may dry out. I don't know if mine have yet (they are 10 years old) but its such a cheap upgrade I don't mind if they haven't.
