Over the Rhine

Posted by: Diccus62 on 07 February 2007

There was a bit of an Over the Rhine thread pootling away on 'What are you listening to now....' so i thought i'd bring it together and see if it widens out.

I've been looking to order a few of their cd's but they are pretty difficult to get over here. Anyway CD Jungle have an Over the Shrine Big Grin CD 'Films for Radio' available for a bargain £6.97 Post free here

Any other Over the Rhine fans out there?

I bought Ohio the other evening after the discussion on the other thread and paid exactly £7.91 incl postage new from the States. I use a few second hand sites to buy from in the US that I have found reliable over the years. I always scan each site to see who are the cheapest before I buy.

I saw them on the Films for Radio tour. Michael Timmons from Cowboy Junkies sat in that night. It was tremendous.

Do they ever tour outside the US ? We'd be well up for it.

Ian

Just registered on their forum and have asked the question. Have also directly emailed OTR.

I'd be up for it too.

Talk about a quick response.......... what lovely people. Here is their reply to whether they tour europe.

Diccus

Thanks so much for the kind note of encouragement. Yes we do tour the UK -- we're overdue. Maybe later this year -- if not, 2008 for sure.

We have lots of new music coming out this year. Stay tuned at overtherhine.com for more and hope our paths cross soon.

You can post this little note up on your forum if you want to.

We love the UK and have great friends in London and Lead Hills, Scotland to name a few.

Lookin' forward,

Linford and Karin of Over the Rhine

I saw them in Paris in 2002, I think. They were the support band for Cowboy Junkies, on their european tour. They opened the night, and then joined the Junkies for the main set. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to them as having waited years to see & hear Margo Timmons, I was a little impatient, but they did seem pretty good, the girl singer, being particuarly good. I think thier recordings were available through the Junkies website at one time, not sure if they still are.

Got Ohio not too long ago and though it's good it hasn't really been leaping onto the replay list.

Good Dog, Bad Dog, on the other hand, was a case of "I must get this ASAP" when I heard it at a pal's and it's been a standout favourite ever since.

Also have Linford's "I Don't Think There's No Need To Bring Nothin'" which is amiable stuff, but not really essential.

Pete.

FWIW, IMHO, etc., you haven't really heard the beauty that Karin Bergquist can conjure until you've heard Little Blue River/In The Garden, from Films for Radio. Chills every time, even after 6 years of listening.

Will listen out for it Jayd, its heading my way somewhere over the Atlantic.

I posted a link to this thread on my email to OTR so they may read the comments posted
