Travelling Wilburys

Well, Just purchased the Travelling WIlburys CD/DVD package and it's superb!! I already own both albums on vinyl but bought it so I could see the DVD and also rip the CD's to my Vaio MP3 player.

The talent of Orbison, Lynne, Harrison, Petty and Dylan is clearly beyond reproach and the quality of material on both albums remains outstanding. The DVD though was worth the price of admission alone and what really came over was the fun they had making the music - it's incredibly compelling watching them work together in the studio as well as hearing what they have to say about the music.

What is also striking is the lack of pretence just five astonishing talents who really loved making music together. The five videos on the DVD are also excellent and compliment the songs. 'End of the line' is especially touching with them sat round in a circle with Orbison's guitar rocking on a rocking chair.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves quality rock.

Hi Jonathan,

Got my copy of the deluxe box the other day. I also have these albums already on cd and lp but wanted the extra footage. It's a well put together set that brings back the memories of first hearing these albums. The Bob Harris BBC radio special a couple of weeks ago was a good primer.

Apparently the deluxe set has sold out world wide.

Cheers

Rick.

Yes it's very good. Got the deluxe set myself of ebay for twelve quid...They're now going for over fifty!

Frankly can't see the fuss over and above the regular re-issue though, you get a linen bound (but still cardboard) case and a little book plus some photos that might as well be from a magazine and a little certificate (and given the number on mine, it's not that limited...) If you're worrying you're missing out by not having the 'deluxe' issue, forget it and get the normal one.
