QUESTION OR STATEMENT ? Smile
Posted on: 17 June 2005 by JonR
You know to be honest chaps, when I first saw Deane's "question" I must admit it completely went over my head, and I myself am a single man who lives alone!

Either I'm daft (and sadly I cannot entirely discount this possibility Roll Eyes) or it just never occurs to me even in the slightest that I would ever consider the possibility of having a young kid stay with me, family or no. This should not in any way be taken as a slight on Dom or blythe who I am sure are very upstanding people. Having seen blythe's initial outraged reaction to Deane's post I had to re-read it (!) but yes I can well see how blythe was offended and I must say I would be too, but for the reasons I have stated above.

Having said all that my sister's pregnant with her third child (!!!) and I fully anticipate that sometime shortly after the baby is born early next year I will be "asked" nay it will be demanded of me that I take my oldest two nephews to look after for a day....or two! Eek This possibility worries me deeply, not for fear that I might suddenly develop any hitherto uncovered desires to have them sleep with me, it's just that I genuinely think I am LOUSY with children!!!

Anyway on the question of the trial verdict, I must admit I really wanted Jackson to go down, but all I have to back me up is my own blind prejudice developed towards Jackson himself - admittedly part of this arose out watching the Bashir doc but I'm not sure how much credibility we can honestly attach to this now in light of the verdict.

That said I'm pleased that Jackson's defence attorney has publically declared that his client will no longer be allowing children in his bed again; hopefully this will in small part be the start of some sort of rehabilitation for him.

Cheers,

Jon

That's exactly how I felt about all of my brothers children coming to stay - I kind of felt "OK, what do I do with them? What if they cry? What if they don't like the food?" etc.
However, I actually found the "dread" beforehand much worse than the reality and actually found I enjoyed their honesty, funny quirks and ideas etc. Don't worry! You'll be fine when that day arrives!

Cheers,

Jon

Thankfully, my nephews and neices are now over 15, so they're not so prone to sticking fingers inside CD players etc. I was actually impressed that they sussed out how to make it all work, which is more than my sister in-law managed!!

Mind you Katey's 37 now, and her brother's nearly 40, so I expect they'll grow out of it soon as well ? Smile

Jon

What are you afraid of? Children are as easy to look after as pets - easier really.
