nSub connection to SuperNait/HiCap

Posted by: Lars I on 02 April 2010

I have recently purchased an nSub and am somewhat confused as to how I should connect it to my SuperNait/HiCap combo. Also, which input(s) should I use on the nSub?

Thanks in advance.

The snait has a pair of phonos on the back specially for the sub. Use this to connect to the pair of phonos on the sub. You need to select the aux input.

I use a 122x, which also has the sub output, and was advised by Naim that this is superior to either taking a signal from the hicap, or using a high level connection from the back of the speakers.

Ah, so. Because when a friend retailer lent me an N-Sub, he told me that he had been advised by Naim that best connection was via the FlatCap and gave me a Snaic4 to 2xRCA.

I accepted this, but kept wondering what Naim had put a sub out in the preamp for..

I found that the system sounded best connecting the nSub to my SL2 terminals using speaker cable

As with the pre/power combos with no Hicap and powering phono stage from preamp rather than external hicap etc, this noticably compromises the performance of the amp

Try it and compare, mine worked with cheap 50p / metre speaker cable following Adam from Naims advice

I connected mine via the Hicap and this works and sounds flawlessly.
