People want RCA sockets -- it's that easy. There used to be folk who would walk into a shop but refuse to listen to Naim gear, even if they'd heard good things about it, because 1. it didn't have RCA sockets, and 2. it didn't come in silver with gold knobs.

Thomas,

I was sure that Naim keeps following only proffesional matterials. Thousands of words were written about the superiority of DIN upon RCA.

Is RCA or DIN is a choise now ?

I think the 552 and the 252 have both types, it's up to the customer to decide which one to use. Naim haven't changed their mind with regard to this, and they will still tell you that the DINs are superior. Deutsche Industrienorm - Achtung!

Are you in one of those "I need reassurance" phases again?

Thomas,

It is not a matter of reassurance. I don't have the tools to find out which is better - RCA or DIN.
Naim was asked many years to install the equipment with RCA plugs and they refused as they said that DIN is better.
I trust NAIM while they are talking about professional matters.
If - all the sudden - they are changing their attitude, than it makes me wondering.

Although naim appear to have relented, they havn't really.

On these two models the RCAs are available, however you lose two dins in the process.

Its a bit like the BNC input on the big boxes, you have that or din.

Is it a cop out?

If it gains business for naim because some people insist big fat cables and little thin cables all make differences then fair play to them, they are only inputs.

If you want RCA inputs on naim, buy the new kit razz

Gary,
Here is another problem:
I don't want to be confused by the hundreds of interconects that are available.
Naim had always said - don't worry, the world is not passing near by us, we are checking everything and we are giving you the best.

Now you want that I'll find out which cable gives the best results? I don't want !

Arye, I think it would be in the persons own will power not to go down that route. The fact that a couple of phonos is on the scene is largely moot, if you want to get all moist over bits of metal with plastic round them you can do that for dins as well.

Thankfully I have so far been largely unimpressed by bits of metal with plastic round them, no matyter how thick/shiney/colourful.
