What is the difference between a British Summer and a Sydney winter
Posted by: DAVOhorn on 24 July 2008
Dear all,
That is the question.
Because from where i am sat there is very little difference.
We have just enjoyed the coldest winter day for many years about 5c min with 12c max.
Today is slightly warmer but is chucking it down.
Checked news paper today and London is also about 12-14c with rain.
So here i am half way round the world and i am enjoying a typical British Summer when really i came here for the warmth and sunshine.
It changed here when the Pope went back to ITALY, so his parting gift to us was rain. Oh yeah and cold.
Roll on spring !!!!!
regards David
freezing cold in Sydney

24C and sunny here 25 miles South of London expected high of 26C. So I reckon your answer was incorrect.

How awful to hear of Sydney's weather.
Just south east of London..basking in a lot of degrees of sunshine....listening to Hendrix and contemplating a cold beer...

Even Slough was pleasant when I ventured out of the office briefly at lunchtime!

I was stuck in train just outside Slough - I didn't think it was so pleasant.

Sat at my desk in Perth, looking out of the window. It's chucking it down...
Perth has had really dry winters for years, until the Welsh bloke turns up and then it starts to rain like there's no tomorrow (when it rains here, it really rains - none of your drizzle nonsense).
At least I'm guaranteed a summer though.....

From my desk I can see a cloud hovering above the Alps. It's not a big one, but a cloud for heaven's sake! Shocking.
Fortunately, in the other direction over the sea, no such blight. Only 29° today though - brrrrr.

I'll second a famous quote "the coldest winter day I ever spent was a summer day in California".
Not quite but misty and 60 ish, a change from LV 106 and quite humid.

Knotted hankies, rolled up trouser legs, socks with sandals, 'kiss me kwik' hats, overheated tube trains, crap telly, no football, hosepipe bans, kids off school, or rugby, Friday gridlock, England losing at cricket, Big Brother.......

Dear All,
If you want to have a laugh go to You Tube and punch Snowing in Sydney.
This was a few km down the road from me last Sunday.
In the UK we would call it sleet but in Sydney it passes for snow.
