Spkrs for New Naim system

Posted by: desert rat on 25 December 2003

Hi everyone,

I will shortly be getting a new Naim
system having had a full Linn system
before. New system

CDX2/XPS2
Nac 282
Nap 250

Listened to this system with my old Linn
Ninkas - obviously it was miles better than
my old relatively budget linn system (genki,
kolektor, lk140). However one area where I
thought it was weaker was tonality - it was
still too warm/sweet. Admittedly the Naim
stuff wasn't run-in - straight out of the
box.

I am looking for a colder, more forward, more
analytic sound. Listened to Proac D25 but they
were too warm too.

Budget £2000 - 3000.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks to both of you for those posts.
Unfortunately, where I live (Middle East)
you don't come across second hand Naim stuff too
often - if ever.

Do the new SL2's do the same job?
What about the Allaes?

Thanks

Just for the record...no need to respond...you DO plan to get a Hicap or Supercap with your 282/252, right?

The 250 (and 135, 300, 500) can't power a preamp, and Naim preamps don't come with power supplies.

Regards.

Phil,

As you can tell I'm a bit new to this Naim
stuff, but in the shop it appeared that they
were running a 202 with nap250 without any power
supply.
