A shambles,

The future of the Americam GP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NONE what so ever.

The Middle East and Far East beckon.

Compare that awful Indianapolis track to the Dubai, Bahrain Malaysian Chinese facilities.

No Brainer.

The yanks do not watch F1 but the people of the far and Middle East do , Well those with the disposeable income to buy the sponsors products do.

This has become like the Not The Nine O Clock news sketch on Darts.

Its a Double Vodka.

F1 is no longer a sport but a commercial retail enterprise. Look at the branding products of Ferrari, both EVO and Car magazines have commented on how LOW BROW the branding and merchandising of team related goods has become.

Ferrari is all but a fashion outlet.

When Mercedes win it is a Mercedes engine when they lose it is an Ilmor engine made for Mercedes.

The issue of tyre safety was a sensible one. Michelin had tyre failure because those stupid Americans cant turn the steering wheel so get the track to do it for them . F1 cars are designed to be steered round corners and thus the tyres were compromised by the banking and the diamond cut of the surface as the Indy cars had traction problems with the standard surface.

I agreed with everything that the commentators and drivers and most of the team management said.

Bernie was pissed as his usual bully tactics failed and he did not get his own way.

It is supposed to be a race and everything else is secondary.

But like all sports today the actual sporting endeavour is secondary to the marketing of the brand and merchandising.

Now where are my ferrari t shirt shorts and codpiece.

Mclaren even tried to flog HiFi !!!!!!!!

AND FAILED

I refer to knowing that they pay large sums of money, not that I know them personally, innit.

Fritz Von Bloody semantics eh `? Big Grin

P.S. Our Bernie was pissed off, not pissed: (or both possibly)?

I hope it is the end of F1 in the US. Any country who's fans are moronic enough to throw half full beer cans at F1 cars doesn't deserve a grand prix.

Brilliant deduction Bob. Let's see, moronic fans, beer cans, thuggery; ....no they still play football in the mother country!

In the news today....

F1 teams await punishment!?

The seven Michelin tyre-using Formula One teams involved in the farcical United States Grand Prix earlier this month must wait until September 14 before learning their punishment.

Renault, McLaren, Williams, Toyota, Red Bull, Sauber and BAR were found guilty on two charges of bringing the sport into disrepute but not guilty on three by the FIA's world motorsport council in Paris today.

However, the council has deferred sentencing until September 14 with three races of the F1 season left.

Between a rock and a hard place springs to mind! Surely it was Michelin who were at fault more than the teams and should be the one in the Dock!

Michelin have no contract with the FIA.

Paul

They're just an approved FIA tyre supplier. Today.

1. Michelin screwed up, now they are offering to address this, its a start but I think it will not be enough! Frown

2. To assume that the other 3 teams would agree to be handicapped through no fault of theirs was fool hardy. If the reverse occured to Bridgestone, you think the Michelin runners would be receptive to the idea. Winker

3. Bernie will look after NO 1. Big Grin

I think if Bridgestone had the problem, the chicane would have been implemented by the FIA without contestation.

If Ferrari were also running Michelins, the chicane would have been implemented by the FIA without contestation.

I think Bernie is terrified of the forthcoming A1GP series and the probable loss of drivers.

I heard that the next Irish Grand Prix will include a hump backed Bridge !!! Cool

Fritz Von I can't be sure of this as I was really drunk at the time Roll Eyes

Should that have been empty or full cans then?

They obviously knew which "team" to throw them at even if Minardi and Jordan made an easier (slower) target.

I think this begs the question...

Is the can half-full or half-empty?

(OK, I think it's time for bed now...)

Cool

F1 another dominant performance by Renault/Alonso/Michelin. Yawn! Boring, just like last few years with Ferrari.

I say give the "buggers" the same car and let them battle it out on sheer skill alone with wide tracks for overtaking, innit?

An emphymeme. The unstated premise being that the only skill tested in Formula One racing is the ability to drive around a track faster than other drivers.

I know you just love pitstops, but for the rest of us that is sort of the point.

The championship is also a test of:

Design
Engineering
Teamwork
etc

Single make series have never been successful. If the only point for you is to see who laps fastest then that is fine I guess. "The rest of us" doesn't include me though.

Each to their own, but it must be said that F1 has definitely gotten boring lately like watching fish swimming round and round in a tank! Poor fishes in tank Frown

Lately? So, which year was the last one that you found interesting then?

For me, nothing could have been more boring than watching Mansell or Hakkinen race when they won the championships.

Seems that a lot of the people who post about Formula One on this forum will only be happy when:

a) there is a lot of overtaking (which to me means drivers making more mistakes rather than cars being more evenly matched.)

b) Nobody dominating the season and the championship being decided on the last race.
