Foobar Help Desk

Posted by: pcstockton on 17 June 2010

There seems to be many people now using Foobar and a few are not familiar with how powerful it is and the options available to them.

I figured I would volunteer to help anyone with specific issues they might be encountering.

Advice for modifying existing configurations would be best addressed in Deviantart or Hydrogen audio (wherever the creator is hosting it). Developers are typically happy to help you write a snippet of text-markup or modify their configs to suit your own particular use.

But I fully avail myself to help navigate any stumbling blocks people are running into. If you have any questions please fire away.

Take Care,
Patrick

Yes this is easy.

In some panels the font size is a little more buried in the code. But Album List is easy.

Preferences>
Display>
Columns UI>
Colours and Fonts>

Select "Fonts" Tab

Under "Element:" Select "Album List"

Click on "Change" next to "Font:"

Change away...

I like a Bold font here.

I hope this helps!

Now changing the font in the EL Playlist is a litle tougher.

Hi Patrick (the legend... Winker)

If you go to https://forums.naimaudio.com/ev...2903417/m/1652924437
you can read

Please can you indicate where I can read this guide?
Perhaps you should open a new discussion " Exact Audio Copy Help Desk"

Thanks a lot Patrick
you're definitively one of the best (and kind) contributor on this forum, sincerely Jean-Luc

Jean-Luc,

Thanks for the kind words. My attempts at humor often get lost in translation, and more than not come I across a little too aggressively in the Forum. So being referred to as "kind" is nice to read!!! Thx.

The guide written by Jiggafellz (sp?) is what I have always referred people to for years. It is the best one I have ever seen, although there are others out there. Typically they are very similar or exact copies (pun intended) of this one:

http://hiphopiscoolagain.com/s...th-exact-audio-copy/

Regarding starting a thread.... I dont know how much there is for me to say.

I would only tell people to use this guide for set-up.

From there (and this is most likely included in the above guide):
- Start EAC (I am 90% sure you can have EAC auto start upon insertion of a CD)
- Insert CD
- Verify artist, album name, year and filenames are correctly gleaned from freedb (or enter if album is not available... rare)
- F4 (detects gaps)
- Shift F6
- When the rip finishes give a quick look at the bottom of the log file for the usual "No were no errors"
- If there was an error I would try that track again or listen to the offending track to see if the error is audible. (The log will give you an exact timestamp of the error)

A few pieces of advice:
- I would not try to do anything else while ripping. Encoding to FLAC is very resource intensive.
- If the disc cannot proceed past a certain track due to errors, start over and omit the offending track.
- Then go back and re-rip the erroring track in burst mode in EAC, or use Foobar etc.

Good luck and good ripping!!!
