Where have all the cool people gone?

Friday fun from the Guardian

"It was bad enough when we had people from Notting Hill. Now we get people from bloody Clapham."

Roy -

Balham is the new Hoxton. I know this because two very posh girls on the Tube said so.

I used to live in Balham/Clapham borders. We sold our flat (3 years ago) for nearly 3 times what we paid for it (5 years previously).

Tooting is the New Balham.

There used to be a great chippy in Balham too.

Hoxton is a dreadful place.

So where do the coolest people live?

If you have an idea (with full postcode) try www.upmystreet.com and click on the ACORN profile link and then the Full Profile link and see what some market research / advertising people think of the area.

The powers of a postcode.

Tunbridge Wells but not for much longer 'cos I'm moving. What's Kirriemuir like?

Interesting site. The Acorn demographic analysis for my area seems about right AFAICT.

My wife is into direct marketing and uses ACORN quite a bit, much more accurate than the usual ABCC2DE stuff. Strange is that although it's fairly accurate to with in 28 houses as yet I haven't found a category we fit into and we certainly don't fit our area profile.

Much cooler (in every way) than Tunbridge Wells. But you knew that, didn't you? Wink

I've dicovered that the cool centre of the universe is definitely not Kirrimuir, it's located 30 miles west at Crieff which has a nice Christmas shop.

And I still can't see a profile for "very poor, not working, owning own house in centre of town with massive hi-fi, no TV and expensive tastes" in the ACORN lists. Apparently Crieff is Type 39

Dave, my wife cares, its her job, (but not for much longer Big Grin )

Apparently I live in -

TYPE 26 Mature Established Home Owning Areas

I'm obviously in the wrong place 'cause I've still got a big mortgage.

I like this fact about my postcode:

Heavy ITV viewing - Low

Too bloody right. Its actually detuned on my set at the moment.
