Moto GP 2006

Well were on lap 3 and there’s already more excitement than you’ll see in the whole of the Formula 1 season. Rossi having been shafted from behind on the 1st corner of the 1st lap. His right footpeg is missing but amazingly he’s carrying on using the exhaust as a footpeg instead.

260 BHP on a machine which weighs 140 KG, it must be like hanging onto a jet engine.

Anyone else watching?

Great result for Little Loris - that Ducati goes like stink! I want Colin Edwards to go well this year, so getting tangled up in that first corner was a downer for me. He deserves to get a good season in before it's too late - especially with all the young blood coming in. I think Marco might be a problem for Rossi this year. It is certainly going to be exciting.

The pit girls look better now than they did back then too!
And can I have one of these please?

Brilliant first race - Loris was slidin that thing around something amazing, I shit my self when i cross a white line in the road, these guys are gods

The first race was certainly entertaining with some unexpected results. An oil spill on the track during qualifying caught a few riders out including Rossi who trashed his first bike meaning he was out on his No 2 machine with no spare, maybe that’s why he was a bit hesitant during the remainder of qualifying?.

Capirossi did an amazing job considering the amount of wheel spin he was suffering, although even the Honda’s was getting it sideways (reminded me of the days of Mick Doohan on the old 2 stroke 500 machines.)

What about Dani Pedrosa in his first season in Moto GP coming in second, although you could see him tiring towards the end of the race.

Cant wait for the second round which is on a Saturday NOT Sunday.

Rasher,

I’d like one of these.

Yeah Justyn, I like the Ducati mostly, but I don't much like the way that the fairing is seemingly moulded into the tank (although I think there is a cover piece there painted red?). That's what they did with the Paso 907 of the 80's, and I think it looks really naff. Am I being too picky?
Tell you what, buy me one of these instead and I'll be happy enough.

I think that it is sacrilege for Ducati to be successful on a bike that looks like it was designed for Mr Blobby!

At least it makes the 999 look svelte in comparison.

A friend of mine is in the process of rebuilding two of these for racing for someone he's been training. Got the engine mods in, getting the custom pegs, exhaust system and carbon fibre fairing built - should be done by now, must have a look see this weekend.

The thing about the 675 is it's an extremely tiny, narrow bike and the engine is petite.

I currently have a Daytona 600 which is a nice fun bike, though I only just touch my toes to the ground when I sit on it!

Friends

Apologies in advance for my ignorance. The yellow bike. What is it?

Thanks
Clay

I had a succession of GSXR750's until I discovered the NC30. It was such a hoot, but being 6 foot it was a bit of a squeeze. The best bit was seeing the faces of my mates who still had their 750's; they just couldn't accept being left behind by a 400; it was a look of fury mixed with confusion. Big Grin
