My new Mark Levinson hifi!!!

Posted by: Jonas Olofsson on 21 July 2006

Just got my new Mark Levinson hifi!!! 6 cd changer, 11 speakers, lots of tone controls and sitting comfortably in my Lexus RX400h!!!

Seriously, what a car! The ML hifi isent that bad either, even if its not close to my Naim system at home of course... Smile

If you havent tried it yet, dont miss the oportunity to try a RX400h, for a SUV its quite fast, 271 hp at your service...

Tried one yesterday, very nice. Preferred the X5 though.

Compared to the Lexus?

Most of the SUV type things I have driven seem to be that way. IMHO.BTW I have not driven all of the SUVs available.I hope we don't get the new AUDI cos it needs a cover over it.F....ugly it is.

I had a Range Rover that certainly was wobbly. The X5 is nearest of all the SUVs (that I've tried) to it's equivalent saloon.

Responsive too, and not bad on the juice (23mpg). Excellent ride for it's height. The image of the badge was the only thing against it for me.

The Lexus was comfortable, not quite as responsive, felt a bit cramped and wallowed far more.

The Disco is much better than the old one, but too tall and has less space. It's slow off the mark too because it's so heavy.

The Audi is, I agree, pig ugly (like the Porsche).

The VW toe-rag is a good ride and the diesel is bloody quick, but the drive is a bit vague and it is feels much bigger.

The Land Cruiser was similar and I felt a bit sea-sick.

As you can see, I did try a few. Choosing Hi Fi kit is much easier. Winker

SUVs are ideal for farmers and people lacking in the trouser department.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel 3litre I think struggled to get 18mpg.
I think unless you are ACTUALLY off roading then the only plus for a SUV is the "superior" driving position, and of course the ability to fit exactly the same amount of kids in it as a family car/PC.It does tend to blind the SUV drivers to all other vehicles when within 100 mts of a school though.

And you don't actually see the children you have squashed. Let's hear it for £2,000 p.a. road tax for SUVs.

If you want a higher driving position you can get a small MPV.

Oh we can have a small MPV can we, that's good of you. Or are they only for people with an interest in trouser departments?

Maybe in a free country people should be allowed to drive what they choose, provided it's legal.

Whatever they drive, the way it's driven will be down to them.

Yeah right. Like the school run MPVs, Volvos, Mercs & BMWs are always driven so thoughtfully.

I was wondering how long it would take for the direction of this thread to be more about the politically correctness of the SUV element rather than the sound system fitted in said vehicle

re not seeing the children that have been squashed - this is not a problem as long as the auto washdown feature is fitted to the vehicle along with the auto flip bull or roo bars that flick off any items that have been caught up on them.
