I have been using Isobariks for over 7 years. Recently replaced them with NBL,s. The overall improvements are excellent and in all the right areas. Speed and tunes in the bass, super quick, open and inviting mid band, sweet and detailed top-(bottom line - more musical).
I loved my briks and always thought they would be really difficult to replace. After a few days with the NBL's I realise that, as fun as briks are, by modern standards they are slow, coloured and congested in the middle. Things move on..

Simon,
I've always loved the bariks and went through a period of time thinking that there will never be anything on the market that would offer the same kind of qualities.
Then I heard the active NBLs and whoah!!! I've commented before that they sound so similar to the Isobariks. Although, having never heard them back-to-back I was not sure how much better than the bariks they were.
So thanks for the info - you have confirmed my theories.

I experienced the same with my Linn Sara's when I purchased them I thought I would keep them forever. To me they were the best speaker I had heard.
But technology moves on and I made the mistake of going into Golds Hifi in Northampton and hearing a pair of Sonus Faber. Unfortunately when I got home I realised that the Sara's were old fashioned and outdated and new speakers sounded better. It was a hard pill to swallow but I am now the happy owner of a pair of Ruark Equinoxs which I think are the best speakers. I am sure in a few years time I will replace them with a newer more modern set if speakers and time goes on!
The NBL's are a good pair of speakers use and enjoy!!!!

Rather than deprive Larry of the Nap 500, I could arrange something for over our summer shutdown period. As you know, it takes a little while for the "BIG BEASTY" to settle so it woulld make some sense!

P.S. It's only cos he was nice to me.

Last time I borrowed some stuff via the dealer I ended up buying a brace of 135s

Dave,
If you do take up the offer....you will not be needing your 135's for a bit will you ? (my 250 could have a rest for a while)
I suspect that you would take the entire time off on holiday, become a hermit for the duration, and take up permenant residense in your living room.
the only downside would be when you let the Beast go back to its owners....but I could get used to tripping over your bottom lip as it dragged along the floor !

Chris
