Hi folks.

I want. Would prefer to buy s/h. How much? Especially the CDS-II/XPS.

...although I'm wavering toward the CDS-II. I know of an ex-demo one including XPS for five kilos, but since I don't know the exact new price I don't know if that's a good price or not. It seems to be a bit higher than I expected it would be, and I don't have five grand to hand right now frown

i wouldnt pay more than 4000 for the cds2/xps combo. patience is the key thing, one will come up at that price if you wait a while.....

Yes it would appear the price of some kit is taking the mick, but mabye they arn't selling it.

On loot right now there is a bog standard black pair of credos for around 700 and the original CD3 for about 500! I sold my cd3 for 320 last year and thought I did well.

Mr Tibbs,

Please stop recommending the CDX/CDPS combo as a 2nd hand given, as the CDPS is surely Naim's rarest second hand beast. I've yet to see one come up anywhere.

Jealously yours,

Mike

If I can find a way of getting a wad of cash out of the business then I might end up with a CDS-II sooner than I planned... ahhh, the temptation!

So, any ideas as to how to put the purchase of a CDS-II/XPS through the books so as not to incur the wrath of Hector the Revenue Henchman...???

Say its required for business presentations, or for the wellfare of staff.

I sold my 15 month old CDX for £1650 and bought a two month old XPS for £1350. The XPS was a bargain, but as far as I can remember I was the only person to make the seller, who wanted £1500, an offer so he took it!

I'll bet there are those who've managed to get a NEW pair discounted to not much more than that amount so for a exdemo (i.e. probably used and abused) its a bit cheeky to say the least.

Interesting concept. Is this common practise with Naim purchases? Assuming that it is, hypothetically speaking, then if a dealer offered a new CDS-II with XPS for, say, £5500, would that be considered a good discount or would £5000 be more like the going rate?

I know some brands/dealerships do push some discounting, and others don't, and also I haven't approached my own dealer (a Naim dealer, FWIW) about this yet, but a rule-of-thumb would be useful.

I spotted the Cornflake shop ex-demo unit, which is still available it seems. Would I be expecting too much to be able to get a new CDS-II discounted to that sort of price, as you suggest?
