If I were to buy a Mac mini....

Finding people with experience of Macs is impossible! Even my company's IT dude knows nothing about them.
If I bought just the base unit is it at least likely that my keyboard, mouse, monitor etc would be compatible? Otherwise the change over will get a tad more costly.
Thanks
Tony

Tony,
Your mouse and keyboard will be compatible as long as they're USB, if not you could get PS2 to USB adaptors. Apple include a VGA adaptor which your monitor probably will accept.
I've had a Macmini for about a week now, and it is unbelievably simple to set up (think 20 mins) compared to PCs and seems very stable. I'm kicking myself for not buying a Mac years ago!

Thanks for the replies. Seems like a sensible move for someone like me that never does gaming and has had enough of the usual Microsoft problems. I can't face Vista, and I bet its replacement will make even more printers etc redundsnt.
Tony
PS. This reply will appear a while after I post it at 10.14am because I've been a bad boy. Again. Sorry Adam, I'll try and grow up!

I have never encountered a USB mouse or keyboard that did not work. That being said special keys like media controls on keyboards might not work out the box.
If your monitor is VGA or DVI then you are set. If your printer is USB and not DELL then your are sorted there too.

Lots of help out there, just in case, like this.
I'm a bit of a numpty most of the time with compooters, so if I'm given the go ahead be prepared for daft questions. Thanks.

Tony if you find windows keyboards difficult for instance the @ and " are the other way round on mac keyboards, then get a mac keyboard, they are 30 quid. or a logitech mac keyboard.

My children can grind a Windows PC to standstill within 3 months. 4 years ago I bought them Macs and I haven't had to rebuild a computer since.

Hi there
My 2p.... have had a mac mini for about 2 years now, and I love it. I'd always used PCs before, at work and home. It just operates so beautifully. I would say though, if I could re-wind 2 years, I'd get one with a built in DVD burner. Maybe that's standard now, not sure. I'm really glad I didn't get another PC.

I just wouldn't go for anything but MACs. OSX has been so stable I don't ever see my tech guy or pay him money like I used to.

And Apple have just released some fab looking new laptops too! After an enjoyable two and a half years with an Intel iMac I have been thinking of switching back to a laptop for some time, and the new range (hewn out of solid billets of aluminium it would seem) look the dogs!
