Jonas,
Like Simon I also did believe that Naim used CDM 9 Pro for ALL CD2 players. Comparing your "lens" photos with my CD2 there seem to be a difference to me. By serial number mine is quite a bit "younger".
So maybe one of our administrators could answer this question?

I'm about to return the player. I have just bought it home for testing. I had tested much music now. But I can't make it swing as it should.
I think it's my table that sux. I will test the Nait on (modified) IKEA Lack. And the CD on IKEA Lack. Now the CD sounds a bit sharp and clean, it seems to be missing warm and swing.

Does this mean, that the Pro mech is superior in quality than the standard mech?? And if so, what about Naim's philosophpy not to built a machine that would be worse compared to an existing one?
My CD2 does have that grey plastic mech.
Cost? It's still on warranty, anyway.
Thanks for an answer

Yes.. thanks for that information I will now let my ears decide if I like the CD2 better than the CDi. As far I can tell you, that I like the CD2 more. The both players swings almost the same, but the CD2 is more clear, real and natural. The CDi is a bit softer.

Sue,
James,
Thanks for clearing that.
In Germany there is only one distributor for Naim products: Music line in Hamburg. They give a warranty of five years from the date of purchase for each Naim product.
Jonas,
I would like to suggest the CD2 to you. It's a really splendid machine! They only stopped it, because the CDM9 wasn't available anymore. On another post Doug Graham assured me, that Naim could keep the CD2 running for quite a while yet.

Sounds good. It has never been serviced. I will service it when it doesn't play CDs anymore. First I will service my Nait 1 I'm satisfied with the CD2. But when I service it, will they change to a worse transport?

Jonas,
No, they have original mechs in stock, in order to remove yours if necessarily. But I think there wouldn't be a huge probability for that.
For further significant improvement on the CDP-path we'd have to go for the CDS2 IMO.
So enjoy it for a long while yet!
