Well have just returned home from a CD & Record fair in the locality.

Gentlemans and Ladies, I am well chuffed here is what I picked up:

Fleetwood mac: Rumours
Stevie wonder: Hotter than July
Steely Dan: Greatest Hits
Yes: Tales from Topographic' (got this because my version is knackered)
Cat Stevens: Teaser and the Firecat
Yes: Fragile, (I only picked this up the other day but I think this is an original, could someone tell me what to look for?)
Gary Moore: Back on the streets
Don McLean: American Pie
Bowie: Changes
Santana: Marathon
Subtropic: Compression Point, (I have no idea who or what this is, but the cover was nice.)

And Finally my Pick of the Month, here it is the one you have all been waiting for:

Eric Clapton: Crossroads, 6 disk box set.

10 quid the lot!!!!!!

How chuffed am I peoples? The clapton one I am listening to now, the box is trashed but the records are pristine, everything from the Cream, to Bluebreakers, Solo the the Yardbirds.

I tells ya with prices like these what are we doing on Amazon??

BTW Please tell me if I got a turkey I havn't listened to them yet. The Clapton one is great though, am going through the cream years right now.

Had similar luck last week when negotiating a price for and lp12 in a private sale. Guy was moving house and a fair lump of his collection was going to the charity shop.
I came away with 81 albums all in pristine condition several audiophile editions unopened?
5 opera box sets one unopened! All genres jazz, rock , folk ,blues etc I havent stopped smiling since. For these I paid the princely sum of £20
I still cant believe my luck.

PS I also got the lp12 left it with dealer for service.

Yea, well my dad is older than your dad!

Actually I really need to up-grade the deck to take advantage of all this plastic I am getting (and of course the linn klyde) really, in the last few months I think the vinyl collection has doubled, not great when you consider I only had 100 odd albums, but still really enjoying it.

If it has a plum coloured label and no 'K' in the catalogue number, I think you'll find it's an original.

the no. is SD 7211.

The label on the record is much darker than on the others, I don't know if its plum though.

Inside the sleeve the colour is muddy green/grey.

I think I may have scored, but then again for 50p whos complaining?

That's a US copy, the true original is a UK press like this one on Ebay. ...

Yes album

Sounds ideal to me: why is that a reason to replace it?

Well, I can save you 4 sides of wasted effort on TFTO then... As my pal Andrew said about this: "They're really good 4 minute songs. But they last for 20 minutes." ;-)

Revealing science of God, is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Side three isn't a good one-second song, and it's 20 minutes.

In the US, lots of 70's and 80's pop stuff can be had for a song at most any flea market. So your success at finding cheap vinyl here depends largely on your tastes.

If you get serious, you may want to invest in a VPI or similar record cleaner.

yes I thought I had it wrong, but it's still a U.S. copy. There was a UK Fragile on Ebay that went for £34 or so with the plum label and a 7 digit catalogue code. In the early 70s I believe that Atlantic was part of the Polydor group. they became part of WEA with K something catalogue numbers from about 1974, the exact date I don't know.

Its a funny old game all this stuff I got I thought I didn't know most of it, well I do.

The Steely dan best of I knew most of the first side, I didn't have it so glad I have now, but I think this may become part of the 'library' in other words not listened to again, a bit cheesy for me.

The Bowie Changes record, totally excellent, again I knew most of it and well chuffed because its in good condition.

The eric clapton 6 disk compilation, well every side is in really good condition, so I am very happy indeed.

Fleetwood Mac, And to think I thought the Corrs done it.....

Stevie wonder: Good album, mostly nice for background but before you know it a side has finished, always a good sign.

Subtropic: It seems this is a kind of body popping album, or break dance if you know what I mean, well recorded, but one for the library.

Gary Moore: Always a good fall back, I didn't know Perisian Walkways was Our Thin Lizzy man, see learn something new all the time.

The two yes'sss: Both in excellent nick, (infact although I hate to admit it most second hand yes is in good nick, says something I suppose...)

Cat Stevens: Havn't got there yet, this may become my bum record simply because I have no idea what he does.

Santana: I know he is worth more than this, this album is really very cheesy indeed.

So all in all a tenner has got me a fair amount of really good albums, I think the cross roads boxset was worth a tenner alone, some really good stuff on it, especially with the yardbirds, will well recorded.

Oh BTW I havn't listened to don Mclean yet either, but I guess that was a bum buy as well, but for gawds sake, 50p...
