Denver Bronco coach Josh McDaniels fired this afternoon.

"My decision to relieve Josh McDaniels as head coach was not taken lightly. I will always be appreciative of his passion, enthusiasm and hard work, and I thank him for his efforts," Bowlen said in a statement after firing McDaniels with two years left on his contract.

"In the end, I was not satisfied with the results and the direction this team was headed. The decision to make a change was extremely difficult but one that needed to be made for this organization and our fans," Bowlen added. "Everyone, myself included, is accountable for our disappointing season and is now responsible for restoring the culture of winning that has been established by this franchise. Our entire organization is completely focused on returning to the level of prosperity that our fans expect and deserve from the Denver Broncos."

Thanks Clay.

Good.

I got Sarah to read your post first as I haven't had time to watch the Sunday night game yet - on the Sky+ box waiting for a sit down this evening, I am really looking forward to that game.

Last night Sarah told me the Broncos group on Facebook had heard an announcement from Pat Bowlen was imminent, and then a few minutes later she told me the news.

News that no Broncos fan will be sorry to hear. No doubt Josh McDaniels will return to being a coordinator, which he will no doubt be good at.

I am hoping that Jeff Fischer might be ready for a change of scenery at the end of the year, or perhaps a search will offer a chance to a new coach, but not one who instantly alienates the players this time.

Sarah also looked up the Monday night game result for me, 'Close?' I suggested, 'Very' she said, '45:3 ...', 'Wow' I said.
